A McDonald’s customer furious over his order and demanding a refund turned his anger toward a lawyer who intervened and allegedly shot him dead.

The customer was creating a scene at a McDonald’s at 8147 Katy Freeway when Jeffrey Limmer, 46, tried to calm him down, according to the Houston Police Department.

At that point, the customer also became heated at Limmer and the fight moved outside, said detectives.

Limmer shoved the customer to the ground and the customer went to his car and took out a gun and shot the lawyer, detectives said.

The suspect fled the fast food restaurant in a blue Ford pickup truck and remains at large.

Limmer’s sister, Jennifer Thomas, said her parents were attending her daughter’s graduation on Saturday evening when they were informed. Thomas said she was not surprised to hear her brother stepped in.

‘Knowing Jeff, he’s the one who always says, “Calm down. It’s not that big of a deal,’ and divert the situation,”‘ Thomas told ABC 13. ‘He’s always wanted to fight for the little guy and do the right thing.’

She said he was ‘a good Samaritan who is trying to do the right thing and not letting those employees at McDonalds go through that’.

Limmer lived near the McDonald’s and was a frequent customer himself, his sister said. He was a quarterback at Memorial High School and an outfielder on the baseball team. Limmer graduated from the University of Texas and South Texas College of Law.

He was working as an associate at a law firm in Houston.

Greg Monteverde, who played football with Limmer in high school, drove by the crime scene not knowing initially that the victim was his friend since age 9.

‘Utilizing cuss words and other profanities, Jeff stepped in to try and deescalate the situation try and calm him down,’ Monteverde told FOX 26.

‘I thought it was brave. I respect it. I think a lot of us knew Jeff to be that type of individual. In school, he would invite somebody who wasn’t the most popular student to a party or things like that.’

Thomas said that her brother ‘loved fiercely his family and friends’.

‘Always laughing, making jokes, and just loving life,’ she said.

Limmer was killed less than a month after a McDonald’s customer shouting at a worker in Zephyrhills, Florida, over his order not coming with sauce allegedly shot another diner who told him to calm down. Wesley Bullock is accused of punching the Good Samaritan, following him in his car to a gas station, and shooting him in the pinky.
