Part of a beach has been cordoned off after an unexploded bomb was found.

The discovery was made by dog walkers on Widemouth Beach in Cornwall earlier today.

A bomb disposal unit has been dispatched from Plymouth and will arrive on scene to investigate shortly, a spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police told Metro.co.uk.

A spokesman for the force said: ‘A member of the public found what is suspected to be unexploded ordinance this morning.

‘Officers are on the scene and there is a cordon on the beach only. No properties have been cordoned off.

‘A bomb disposal unit is on the way to deal with it and we’re awaiting their arrival.’

It’s only been a few days since more than 3,000 homes were evacuated from Plymouth after a World War II bomb was discovered in a woman’s back garden.

The unexploded bomb was – carefully – transported through the town’s narrow streets before it was taken out to sea and blown up.
