Police have detained a man after an incident in which one woman died and another suffered ‘life-threatening’ injuries.
Emergency services were called at roughly 8.30pm last night to a property in Haresfield Close, Worcester.
At the scene, a 58-year-old woman was discovered to have died.
Paramedics also found a younger woman, aged 39, who was suffering from serious injuries.
West Mercia Police confirmed she is currently in hospital receiving care.
The force added they arrested a 50-year-old man on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Leighton Harding, of West Mercia Police’s murder investigation unit, said: ‘I understand that incidents of this nature can be alarming, but I would like to reassure the local community that this was an isolated incident and there is no risk to the wider public.
Harding added that the local community can expect to see a more visible police presence in the neighbourhood as authorities carry out their investigation over the coming days.
He said: ‘Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who sadly lost her life.’
