A Welsh man has broken the Guinness World Record for the largest collection of rabbit tattoos.

TV camera operator Craig Evans, 42, claims to have spent nearly £10,000 getting the bunnies inked on his body by various artists around the world.

So far, he has had tatts done at parlours in the UK, Japan, South Korea, Spain, France and the USA.

Craig says he got the first one done in 2009, and that at the time, he had no plans to get any more rabbits tattooed on his body.

But after getting the second one done a few years later in New York, he decided to stick with the theme.

The designs vary widely, from hyper-realistic black-and-grey pieces to colourful cartoons and even futuristic-looking robots.

He says his obsession with the furry creatures began as a child with his adoration of cartoon characters like Bugs Bunny, Roger Rabbit and Thumper.

Craig also collects rabbit-themed art from around the world.

He said: ‘I love the aesthetic of a rabbit. They’re such cute creatures, and the juxtaposition of getting something so cute as a tattoo, which is usually renowned for being a tough person’s thing, is something I really like.

‘Unfortunately, I don’t have any pet rabbits as I have a terrier called Bertie. I don’t think that would be a good pairing, but I love him very much.’

Craig says he also has a tattoo of his terrier, though the dog is portrayed wearing a bunny-themed bandana, so as not to break from his overall aesthetic.

He adds it was also a childhood dream to grow up and one day win a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Craig said: ‘I always wanted to have a record but never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d ever actually get one.

‘My framed certificate has pride of place on my living room wall and I’m genuinely so proud and happy. It’s a dream come true.’
