George Galloway has hit back at ‘little Rishi Sunak’ after the Prime Minister used a speech outside Downing Street to label him an ‘extremist’ who ‘glorifies Hezbollah.’
In a speech outside No 10 this evening, Mr Sunak claimed British democracy is under attack from Islamist and far-right extremists, who want to ‘spread their poison’ and ‘tear this country apart’.
‘In recent weeks and months, we have seen a shocking increase in extremist disruption and criminality,’ the PM said in a hastily arranged address to the nation.
‘What started as protests on our streets have descended into intimidation, threats and planned acts of violence.
‘Jewish children, fearful to wear their school uniform lest it reveals their identity. Muslim women abused in the street for the actions of a terrorist group they have no connection with.’
‘And it’s beyond alarming that last night, the Rochdale by-election returned a candidate that dismisses the horror of what happened on October 7, who glorifies Hezbollah and is endorsed by Nick Griffin, the racist former leader of the BNP.’
But George Galloway, fresh off his landslide victory in Rochdale on Friday, hit back at Sunak’s remarks and says he hopes to discuss the matter at PMQ’s on Wednesday- if the Prime Minister ‘has the guts’.
Speaking to Sky News, Mr Galloway said: ‘You talk as if this is God. We’re talking about little Rishi Sunak, in the fag end of his prime ministership. Don’t talk to me as if he’s come down from the Mount with tablets of stone.’
‘I’m not responsible for whoever declares they endorse me… I’ve never met Mr Griffin and have no intention to,’ he later told Channel 5 News.
‘I don’t know what the glorifying of Hezbollah is all about but maybe he can tell me on Wednesday at Prime Minister’s Questions if he’s got the guts.’
Elsewhere in his speech, Sunak said the Government will support the police when they take action during extremist protests and that foreigner who choose to ‘spew hate’ will have their right to be in the country removed.
